The holiday season often becomes a time for
gift-giving. One of the traditions that my fella and I started to embrace was
the idea of giving time and adventures (aka super-dates) to one another instead
of simply giving items that we could either buy ourselves or would forget about
in the future. Don’t get me wrong; we give each other presents all the time. In
fact, last night I came home from my first day back to work to some hyacinth bulbs!
And, it isn’t like we’ve never given each other Christmas gifts but this year
there was so much going on with the wedding… and with buying stuff related to
it… that we opted to take some time for ourselves.
If you’re like me, you probably have some relatives
who give you gifts that just aren’t you. And, there are some gifts that are
*sorta* right. For example, these super warm Isotoner
Hoodback Clog Slippers. They are black which is a plus but they’re a little
too lodge-wear for my taste. So this morning I did a little DIY project. All
you need is a glue gun, scissors, and ribbon of your choice. I opted for a ribbon
that looks like metal studs because I had it around the house for a previous
DIY project (that I haven’t gotten to just yet). Basically, I took the ribbon and placed it
over the log cabiny ribbon that the slippers came with. I cut it to size. Then
I simply used a glue gun to attach the new studdy ribbon. Ta Da!
Much better! :)
ReplyDeleteNice! What a difference a bit of ribbon can make! I need to do something similar. I got men's slippers because they're comfortable for my wide feet, but wow, they're ugly. :P
ReplyDeleteIt was cheap and took very little time. My favorite type of DIY :D
DeleteHmmm those slippers look pretty Gothy now! And a lot better than the ugly Ugg boots we have in Australia. Which some people even wear OUTSIDE the house!
ReplyDeleteGiving gifts of time or adventures sounds fun!
It's funny you write this because just yesterday I pinned a pair of Bailey Bow Uggs. I usually can't stand them but I thought these were kind of cute :-/ http://www.pinterest.com/pin/204702745538909448/
