...winter & the gardening heart...

“No winter
shall chill
my gardening heart”
~Blake Schreck

The meteorologists are announcing snow here in Central Virginia, which means as my brother and I joke, it’s time to make French toast! (Ha ha ha, get it? Because folks run to the grocery store for bread, milk, and eggs! Um, anyway…)

While I’m trying to squeeze out the final 1000-2000 words of a draft for a chapter I’m writing before heading back for the Spring semester, I thought it would be the perfect time to show off some of my cute household plants.

  1. Love em! Especially the tiny ghost and pumpkin planters!

  2. It's been 8 below here for a few days and I find myself dreaming ahead to march when I can put some seeds in soil. My windows feel like they could use many many more plants.

  3. Now I understand the French Toast thing ... clever.

No snow here overnight, as the first wave of the predicted storm must have fizzled. You're supposed to get more than we do over the weekend. Never a dull moment in winter in VA.

    1. The skull planters are egg-sized from Urban Outfitters from about 5-6 years ago; you actually had to crack them open to sprinkle the seeds inside. It didn't work so they ended up with air plants.

  5. I have bread, milk and eggs, we got 9" of snow yesterday... and I didn't make French toast. :O What was I thinking?!

So many cute plants! I love the little graveyard.
