…total eclipse of the moon…

No really, this isn't a blob in the sky! It's the lunar eclipse.
This morning I woke early (or rather early for my sabbatical since during a regular semester I wake at 4:30am) and headed out to watch as the Earth moved between the sun and the moon. I watched a full lunar eclipse with a ring of red fire. Okay, I’m probably being a bit dramatic but there was a red hue and it was beautiful. Even more exciting!!! While watching the moon eclipse, a BAT (gweee!) swooped down in front of my face and landed in a nearby tree! My fella witnessed it and gave me a big hug! At dusk, I have waited patiently for bats and haven’t seen or heard a peep. I haven’t noticed them when heading out in the morning because I’m usually hurried by my commute. So, I have bats!!! Which is super good because wow do we have mosquitoes this year. Yesterday while I was pruning, I smacked five of the suckers on my legs.

I took some pictures with my iPhone but you know how that goes. Nothing in nature can truly be captured in photography… or at least not by me.

  2. I got up for it too- the only pics that turned out were my long-exposure shots of constellations taken when it got dark. All my eclipse shots were too blurry. It was still cool, though.

    1. My friends know that I still have disc film (never developed) from my 7th grade graduation in a drawer. I'm so grateful to digital photography... and phone pictures or I wouldn't have anything documented :p
