...no tiara needed...

“I am fairly certain that given a cape and a nice tiara,
I could save the world.”
~ Leigh Standley

I am in TRUE LOVE with the double-breasted cape from WHBM. I tried it on in the store and at a price tag of $190 I left it there even though I knew that I had to have it. Mind you, I had tried it on with shorts so I felt a bit dorky and wanted a second opinion/ enabling from my fella.

flying around the house like a bat!
Then comes the WHBM Friends and Family sale which reduced the cape 20% which still was pretty expensive but ladies and gents, I had to have it so I ordered it online! Yes, I know that WHBM has amazing sales that if I only waited long enough the coat would be reduced more than half. Do I think the cape would sell out? No, not at all; while capes are *in* this season, they’re still way too weird for the average shopper.  But I’m impatient, the cape is light weight like a traditional suit jacket so it must be worn now or be stuffed under a real coat… and look how amazing it is! Gwee.  Forgive the I-just-finished-my-three-hour-commute-home-messy-hair-and-shiny-face look ;D

unzip all the way!
zip a little!

When I tried it on in the store I hadn’t noticed the zippers for the *sleeves* and while watching the video I noticed that there were slits down the side. “Oh no, my arms are going to get cold,” I thought. “I’ll have to buy arm warmers.” Because apparently I don't believe in long-sleeves? Sigh. Whatever. I was excited!  I figured that while in the store I had missed that the *sleeves* were sewn in the way that they ship clothing from the factory with sewn pockets in order to keep everything looking good while on display. But, No! WHBM is much smarter than that; they added zippers… and the nice shape-forming belt so that it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a moo moo.

  1. Oh, your cape looks wonderful! I also own one and heavily debated if I'm excentric enough to wear it. In the end I decided to screw other opinions and have since worn it a lot! ^^

    1. Thanks! Eccentric is good, I think. :D

I actually own a longer cape that was my mother's when she was young. It's amazing; but, I seldom wear it because it is wool and I get too hot.

  5. I saw this post a few weeks ago and instantly started scouring e-bay. Lucked out over the weekend, and as of today I'm now the proud owner of this jacket/cape. Thank you for letting me know this lovely thing existed!
