I did not plan to take a blog-sabbatical for the last
two months nor did I plan to return to blogging today. I suppose I am following
my muse; and, today, my muse is Bane over at GIY: Goth It Yourself. I am
terribly behind but her December theme is Anything
Goes; and, well, I have been crafting.
If you have followed my blog, you will know that I
LOVE Christmas! I also have a tradition of making Christmas spiders since my
last name derives from the Polish word “spider.” Plus, it just seems to goth up
Christmas a bit.
Here are some older posts if you’re interested in reading
about the legend, a how-to guide, and my beaded-spider-making habits:
EEEK! gothidays!!! ...Once upon a Christmas spider...
It was an awful semester following a complicated and
challenging year. I needed to craft this December and wow did I craft. I have
made nearly 40 Christmas spiders, and I do not plan to stop anytime soon. Also,
I continue celebrate Christmas until Candlemas so while the rest of the world
has moved on and taken down their decorations, I do not until February 2nd.
Without further ado, here are my spiders!
During my Christmas spider crafting, I made some beaded
flowers.
And, today, I swapped out a plan light switch cover
for a more interesting one. It only required a picture and some sticky tape.
While this was a quick post, it’s still nice to be
back.
Squee! The Christmas spiders are so fun! :D You made a remarkable variety. Thanks for participating in the craft-along.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've really enjoyed making them. Now I'm on a Shrinky Dinks kick!
DeleteI've been following your crafting on intagram Facebook. The spider all look fantastic
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D
DeleteThe spiders look great, Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThanks, App'y! Happy New Year!
DeleteThe beaded spiders are beautiful! I'll bet they look lovely on your Christmas tree!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Actually, I only have one on the tree. The rest are in little boxes awaiting their future homes.
DeleteEvery year I say that I'm going to make those Christmas spiders ... being Polish and all ... and every year I don't. sigh .... yours are so lovely, my friend. I'm joining you in leaving my tree up until February this year. I only had two weeks with it and desperately want more. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteYay! I love that Christmas continues. I'm trying to reflect on the season daily.
DeleteForty spiders ... wow, that's an accomplishment especially during the busy Xmas season! The house always looks so bare when the Christmas decor comes down - it's nice to keep it up for longer. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteIt really doesn't make sense at all to take down the Christmas decor. This is the dreariest time with the grey skies and shortened days. Candles, tinsel, and sparkly ornaments help so much. Happy New Year!
DeleteDo you have instructions or a link for those cute Christmas flowers you made?
