Egad! What do you give the women who has (has listed) everything?!? Nothing on the web, that’s for sure!
My fella and I don’t give presents for the holidays (or birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) We give time and plan events with one another. As my Secret Santa Can Suck It gift exchange, I am planning host a day of fun and amazement in Richmond, VA. I know that she doesn’t live too far away so much of this is quite possible.
I know that she’s followed local Richmond, VA artist Noah Scalin’s Skull-a-Day since 2007. I follow his work and recently I met him at a local coffee shop to interview him about his childhood experiences with Halloween in preparation for the Halloween History tour I’ll be giving. I know that Halloween is her “single favorite day of the year” (Cobwebs, October 31, 2014)-- I’m not a stalker:-/ I just believe in citing my source! So my gift would be an open invitation to take the Halloween tour and since this is a virtual-anything-is-possible gift exchange, I would arrange to have Cobwebs become one of Noah’s art pieces. I mean who else would be more willing to give herself to Art than Cobwebs?!? Of course, Halloween is 321 days away and Cobwebs needs her skull so that she can continue to put a dent in all of our wallets. One should never trust artists… and you know that you can never trust the living! (which I would cross-stitch into a little bag for her just before the second part of her gift).
I also know that Cobwebs is “a big fan of cemeteries” (Cobwebs, December 27th, 2011) so why not create a Cemetery Vacation for her! A little R&R in the cemetery sounds perfect! I have to admit that I kind of want to go here myself! Since this exchange includes an unlimited budget, the perfect cemetery vacation must include at trip to Paris to visit Père Lachaise Cemetery ! She can’t stay inside the cemetery so I’ll arrange for one of the Père Lachaise Cemetery vacation Rentals which offers studio apartment rentals as close as 420 yd to the cemetery.
It was a bit of a shock to see Sal Lizard (the vampire Santa) on my bloglovin today! Lol. I met him at a local horror convention. There is just something really disturbing about a demonic looking Santa. Even though he is very creepy looking he was a very pleasant man. :) And I love the cross stitch design. It's very cute.
ReplyDeleteHa ha I saw this picture over at Dr. Theda's Crypt and thought Yep, this is perfect for a Secret Santa Can Suck It post ):-[ I'm glad to hear he's such a nice guy.
DeleteWhat a great idea! I'd love to live in Pere Lachaise, are you sure you can't rent tombs? :P
ReplyDeleteThat would give a whole new meaning to Perpetual Care :D
Delete'Secret Santas Can Suck It'?! That just made me laugh out loud, nice twist on the theme.
ReplyDeleteHim Underfoot and I also tend to swap 'events' - we've bought tickets to 2 concerts of 2 of our favourite artists next year for Christmas rather than anything physical, and will have a lovely meal out at noon on New Year (we celebrate 12 hours before everyone else, simply because we don't have the stamina to get us to 12 midnight!).
It's probably because I've been working on my vampire course for the Spring... and because creepy Santas are fun :-/
ReplyDeleteI love your tradition. We just barely hold on to New Year's midnight before falling asleep. We don't go out in the crowds because we're introverts/ curmudgeons and we like to drink which means someone has to not drink since there isn't convenient public transportation around here. Bah! We enjoy watching the ridiculous RockNEve (or whatever it is called) and not recognizing any of the musicians.
