... dreams to fruition and other unfun scary happenings...

It has been a long nerve-racking day! For most of the morning I was so nervous that I just knew I would vomit. Today was my first official cemetery tour for my boss who essentially decided that after taking a class on Richmond, VA history for ten weeks beginning in January, shadowing other tour guides, researching and writing my own script, revising my work based on feedback, and finally today giving an actual tour that I am official! I even received the passwords! Gwee!

This has actually been years in the making at least in my hopes and dreams.

After the 90 minute tour which went a tad bit long because my boss is actually quite cool and I enjoy chatting with him even though he was supposed to be in character of a random tourist, we headed over to a local cafe and had a nice long chat... like a nearly two hour chat. So all my anxiety, the actual tour, and the coming-down-from have consumed my day (in a good way).

When I arrived home, I learned that my fella's plumbing has sprung a fairly significant leak which quickly turned my tour-joy into woe. I remember that feeling of coming home to burst pipes. He sent me pictures and said my house was a thousand times worse but it's still the hassle of it all even if furniture and carpet aren't ruined.

Needless to write, today has been eventful and kept me fully awake. Now I suppose I should read and soften my world so that I can fall asleep before morning.

  1. Congrats on the tour!
Love it when things work out.
    Plumbing happens! Don't sweat it.
Look at the lovely quiet black stuff and stay calm.
    And bats, lots of bats...
Smile and enjoy water again when all is fixed.
    A hastle but apprecation follows.
    Go with the flow.
(I can't believe I just said that. But you know what I mean.)

  4. WAHOO! Congrats on the tour! Good grief, I know what you mean about feeling like you're going to vomit -- I had the same reaction when I stepped into the classroom on the first day of my grad class. I was terrified. I'm still a little wonky, but it's all coming together.

Sorry about the pipes. Plumbing can be a real pain in the ass. sigh ... (((HUGS)))

  5. Congratulations!!! I'm black with envy, hehehe... :-)

I remember when the pool pipes burst into my private room a few years ago... AACCKKK!!! But fortunately, all turned out well, and I'm sure it will for your guy as well. Yes, it's a huge hassle, but as someone else said, plumbing happens. (At least it wasn't the sewage pipes!!!)

What a gorgeous line (and image). I hope you got some sleep and that the success of the tour is now outweighing the stress of the leak.
